Employing Competent People on Site
When you run a building site or you are an employer, you must make sure you hire competent people to work on site. It is entirely your responsibility and if anything were to go wrong, you would be the one to blame. When you choose to hire someone and have them working for you, then you must make sure you oblige by your legal responsibilities.
When you hire someone, check what their current skills and qualifications are. Make sure they have anything relevant they may need for working on a building site. You also must make sure you have the correct insurance in place so that staff will be covered. This also relies on them being competent people and you must have proof of this.
Continue training with staff to ensure they continue to be able to work safely, and they become competent users of any new pieces of equipment.
