Japanese Train Breaks World Record

A Japanese magnetic levitation train also known as a Maglev train has broken the world speed record for the second time, with it hitting speeds of 374mph.

Maglev trains are different compared to trains in the UK, as they use magnets which are electrically charged to lift the carriages and move them above the rail tracks.

It does all seem a bit pointless though as the company who operates the trains has said that the train will run at a slightly slower speed compared to the world record speed. Then again, it will be faster than the world famous Japanese bullet trains, so we’re probably just a bit disappointed all train rides won’t be going at record speeds!
